Let’s Get active. Try it, your way, everyday.

Active Living

Including activity in your day is a key lifestyle choice for health. Canada's Guide to Active Healthy Living recommends at least 30-60min, 4-7 days a week. You can add up your activity in periods of at least 10 minutes.

To make physical activity a part of your life it helps to like what you do and to have fun. Pick the activities that are right for you. It is also important to fit activity in to the course of your day, so that it is not a big effort to find the time. Active Transportation is one example.

Regular activity helps to reduce the risk for such chronic diseases as diabetes, heart disease and osterporosis. The maintenance of muscle strength, flexibility and balance is one of the best ways that we can reduce the risk of falling and being injured as we age.

It is important to be safe in whatever activity you choose to do and to reduce your risk of possible injury.

Check out these resources to help you get started.

CAUTION: Health problems may limit you, but should not stop you from being active in some way. Talk with your doctor and discuss how you can safely become more active. You may need further direction and assistance from a physiotherapist or other trained fitness people.
